Climate Action Team
St. Martin's Climate Action Team brings members of our congregation together to understand, act on, and pray about the very real challenge of climate change. We meet monthly and aim to serve as a hub for connecting folks within St. Martin's with fellow congregants called to act in response to climate change. We structure events and activities to allow intergenerational participation.
Need In Deed
In 1987, three St. Martin’s parishioners came together to found Need in Deed, a nonprofit focused on putting students at the center of their service-learning experience. Their instinct was that young people would be more engaged in experiences of service if their voices drove the process. Now, almost 40 years later, guided by NID-trained teachers, the organization is operating in public schools across the city, empowering students to make connections between the world they see around them, the issues they care about, and the skills and concepts of the school curriculum. In 2025, St. Martin’s officially named Need in Deed as a covenant partner.
Face to Face
Face to Face, Germantown, was named an official ministry partner of St. Martin's in 2025. Face to Face provides essential services including fresh meals, legal assistance, physical and mental health support, social services, and educational equity. Volunteers from St. Martin's assist with meal prep for the Face to Face cafeteria on the second Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you would like to volunteer for meal prep, please contact Jason Martin, Mark Birdsall, or the office at office@stmartinec.org. Face to Face also operates a Washeteria where individuals can take a hot shower and receive a new set of clothes. To learn more about Face to Face, you can visit their website at facetofacegermantown.org.
St. James School
St. James School notes the St. Martin’s connection to the school as a model for church relationships. Individuals from the parish volunteer and contribute needed funding on a reliable basis and the commitment through the covenant creates a sense of stability and structure on both sides.
