Winter Solstice: Start with a walk, end with a bonfire Dec. 21
Wellspring and the Climate Action Team are joining forces this year to offer two ways to mark the shortest day of the year with prayer and music. Separate registration is required for each event to help with contact tracing and information changes.
At 6:00 p.m. join the Climate Action Team for its annual Solstice Walk in the Wissahickon, featuring walking Evening Prayer and owl calls. Registered participants will meet in front of Valley Green Inn, Valley Green Road at Wissahickon, Philadelphia, PA 19128.
Bring your own candle or lantern, and don masks and warm clothing. Naturalist Leigh Ashbrook will help us listen for owls as we make some space in the last moments of Advent for a quiet experience of light in darkness. For more information contact the Rev. Barb Ballenger, Associate Rector.
At 7:30 p.m. Gather around the warming light of a bonfire at St. Martin’s, 8000 St Martin’s Lane. Susan Cole and Scott Robinson will lead reflections and music, as we offer thanks for winter's blessings and welcome earth's turn toward the sun.
