Weekly Diaper Drive for the Church of the Crucifixion

Donation request: packaged diapers of all sizes
Collection: Fridays at the St. Martin’s parking lot, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (same time as Blessed Baking)
For most of the pandemic, the St. Martin’s Refugee Resettlement Ministry (RRM) has hosted an ongoing Diaper Drive to support immigrant families. Previously, diaper donations were delivered to Juntos, and since June 2021, have been delivered to the Church of the Crucifixion in South Philadelphia. The Rev. Yesenia Alejandro, known by everyone in the 8th and Bainbridge neighborhood as “Mother Jessie,” serves at the Episcopal Church of the Crucifixion and hosts marketplaces where donated items are distributed to the community. Food, clothes, and diapers are provided to hundreds of immigrant families weekly, and in kind donations are received from several churches in the Diocese. Due to the generosity of St. Martin’s parishioners, we are able to fill our cars with more than 500 diapers each week and drive to the waiting arms of Mother Jessie, who knows us all by name, and waits by the door to help us carry the often-huge boxes of diapers.
You may drop off diaper donations in the red wagons outside the Parish House any time during the week. They are collected and delivered each Friday.
