Sweet Sunday Bakers
May 19, 2020
On Monday, May 18 we delivered home baked goods for over 100 family meal bags to St. James School. When we arrive, all is hustle-bustle with families and neighbors arriving to pick up Share boxes, homework assignments, and books from the library table. Sometimes I see milk and other dairy on the table, sometimes there is fruit to take.
This week there was a line of 8-10 people waiting to receive what St. James had to offer that day. Andrew and Madeleine (25, church year volunteer, meal bag filler!) agree that Monday is the best day for our delivery, as that is when family meal bags are distributed.
The kindness of those giving and receiving is very moving. One woman said she would come do Madeleine’s job so she could rest for 2 days over the long weekend. God is very present.
Thank you for your support of this ministry! We will continue each week on Monday, with the exception of next week when we will switch to Tuesday, May 26 due to the Memorial Day holiday.
- Jane Good, Blessed Baking coordinator
St. James is thrilled to receive our baked goods to include in their meal bags. Bake a little or a lot for our near neighbors who are hungry and anxious. Something homemade always feels like love! Jane Good will be in the church parking lot on Mondays at 9 a.m. to collect any gifts you have to contribute, with the exception of next week when we will switch to Tuesday, May 26 due to the Memorial Day holiday. Thanks so much for any contributions you can make!
