Reading with the Rector - Winter 2022

The Rev. Jarrett Kerbel will lead a pair of Reading with the Rector sessions starting this month. The book will be The Sermon on the Mount: A Beginners Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven by Amy-Jill Levine. Professor Levine invites us to hear Jesus as a Jewish teacher imparting wisdom and engaging in the interpretation of the Torah with his Jewish followers. The book is engagingly written, witty and deeply insightful about the profound wisdom of Jesus and the brilliance of the Gospel of Matthew. We will cover chapters 1-3 in the first session and chapters 4-6 in the second session. Please also read Matthew chapters 5 through 7.
