In Case You Missed It: Saved by Faith Alone
Posted on February 11, 2021
On Wednesday evening, February 10, 2021, we welcomed Professor Phillip Cary, Scholar-in-Residence at Templeton Honors College of Eastern University to this Community Conversation. Professor Cary is also author of The Meaning of Protestantism and editor of Pro Ecclesia: A Journal of Catholic and Evangelical Theology.
Martin Luther raised a fuss and started the Reformation by insisting that people are saved by faith alone. What did he mean, and why does it matter? What it comes down to, for Luther, is that God speaks a peculiar word called "Gospel," which has the power to save us because it gives nothing less than Jesus Christ, God in person, to all who simply believe it.
