Hellos and Farewells at St. Martin's
January 13, 2021
The new year comes with a few staffing changes. We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you and farewell to those who’ve helped us weather this pandemic, and welcome our new staff members.
Farewells
![]() Dr. Lyn Loewi will say farewell to the choir at a Zoom meeting this Thursday, January 14. Her last official day will be Friday, and then she will take a week of overdue vacation next week. We are grateful for her leadership as our Interim Music Director in this very unexpected year. Lyn will be returning to Colorado, and we wish her and her husband David all the best in their future endeavors. Lyn was a faithful, creative, and resilient Interim during a time of unprecedented challenge to church music here and globally. |
![]() Zach Dean, served as our interim Office Assistant as we worked to fill this permanent position. He is completing his seminary intensive courses and moving on to ordination as a Lutheran pastor. We have been so grateful to have him filling in for us at a time made more complicated by the pandemic. We wish him well as he finishes his process and hope his time with us has been instructive as he plans to run a church himself someday soon. |
Welcomes

She has a BA in journalism from Temple University, where she studied poetry with Sonia Sanchez. She earned her MA in English /Writing Studies from St. Joseph’s University with a poetry thesis directed by April Lindner. Recently, she earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Rutgers University. ![]() Director of Music [email protected] 215.247.7466 x105 You may recall that we announced the hire of Tyrone Whiting back in July. We are thrilled that Tyrone will officially join us on Tuesday, January 19th. A prize-winning organist and conductor, Mr. Tyrone Whiting is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and the Royal College of Music, both in London, UK. He is coming to us from Grace Church in Newark, New Jersey where he served as Director of Music since February 2018. At Grace Church, Tyrone extended the Chorister Choir School program, developed and expanded the adult choir, and founded a brand-new adult chamber choir, Brick City Chorus, raising the profile of music at Grace Church and the Arts in Newark, NJ. This is a great time to re-watch Tyrone's introduction video. The delay in Tyrone’s officially joining the staff was the result of a massive slowdown in the process to receive work permits from the USCIS caused by COVID-19. Tyrone was incredibly diligent in fighting through the log jams and faithful in keeping us informed all along the way! This Sunday, January 17, we are thrilled to have Aaron Graves and Valerie Gay leading our music. |
![]() Associate for Audio Visual Technology [email protected] 267.225.5380 In December, lifelong St. Martin’s member and current high school student, Daniel Cooper joined St. Martin’s staff on a part-time basis. His responsibility is to manage the live-stream feeds for Sunday morning worship services and other liturgies. His on-site support allows the clergy and musicians to focus on the liturgy while he controls the sound and visuals coming to your home. Daniel has been assisting with sound at St. Martin’s and other churches for years and is certified for audio from Shure, Audinate and QSC. Thanks for joining us, Daniel! |
