24th Annual Campaign for School Scholarships for Guatemalan Children

Posted May 10, 2021
On May 23, 2021 St. Martin’s Companion Parish Committee is beginning the campaign for the 24th year of the scholarship program to help Guatemalan school children to attend school. We are accepting your pledges or donations for full scholarships of $550 and partial scholarships in any increment of $25 for school year 2022.
Education is a vital part of breaking the cycle of poverty, for it creates the foundation for human, economic and community development. Also, a more educated citizenry is one of the keys to the advancement of social justice. The children at San Juan Apostol in Chichicastenango would not be able to go to school without your help. There is no free education in Guatemala and many families simply do not have the resources to pay for school fees, books, transportation and lunches. The complications of virtual classes have added new expenses. We ask for your support to help the families of San Juan Apostol to enable their children to have an education and a bridge to a better future.
Companion Parish Committee members will circulate with clipboards for signing up, and a clipboard will also be available in the Parish House lobby. Please make your pledge by June 30, 2021, with payment due by September 30, 2021. Payment by check should be to St. Martin’s with “Guatemala scholarships” written in the memo line.
