OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL GROUPS
This year we will offer a couple of different small group formation experiences for parishioners. Designed to foster community as well as spiritual formation, each of these offerings are for self-directed small groups of six to ten participants; each group will determine its own meeting time and location.
Companions in Christ
Companions in Christ is a transformational small group experience that explores the classic spiritual practices of prayer and meditation and invites participants to develop daily patterns that open them to a deepening relationship with God and one another. Materials include daily exercises and articles as well as a structure for small group discussion, reflection, and prayer. Topics are grouped in units of five weeks each; individual groups move through the material at their own pace. For additional information, contact Cathy Cowling at 215.247.7466.
Beijing Circles: A Learning Opportunity Grounded in God’s Call to Action
Beijing Circles is a small group process that seeks to empower participants to work collaboratively to address issues of poverty, education, health, and gender inequality faced by women around the world. The name ‘Beijing Circles’ is taken from the document that articulates the primary issues of poverty, abuse, and inequality: the Beijing Platform for Action emerged from the 1995 UN World Conference on Women, which in turn became a foundational document in the formation of the Millennium Development Goals. Grounded in scripture and prayer, Beijing Circles assists participants in educating themselves about issues affecting women globally and then to advocate and act to bring about positive change on local or global levels. There will be an informational meeting on Saturday, September 27 at 9 am. For more information, contact Pam Hill at 215.242.0433.
